PNW Climate Week 2025

With community, finding real, sustainable solutions to climate change is possible. During PNW Climate Week, we heard from numerous people highlighting their efforts in advocating for clean energy and natural restoration of lands. We were also delighted to take part in a panel and ideation session titled, “Harvesting Solutions: From Food Waste to Food Justice.”

This panel was hosted by David Bobanick, the Executive Director of Harvest Against Hunger, and included Emily Hovis from the University of Washington, Sara Osborne from Safeway, Emily Penna from Farestart, and Angel Swanson from Feeding Feasible Feasts.

Angel shared her thoughts on meeting people’s needs with understanding for cultural relevance and serving folks with dignity. With Feeding Feasible Feasts, she shared just how much we depend on each other to create equitable systems and that working together can be a win-win situation in fighting food insecurity.

After the panel discussion, attendees split into groups that each tackled a different aspect of food waste and justice. We discussed multiple ways to connect with audiences, to bridge gaps in making sure food gets from point A to B, and how we could better facilitate conversations about hunger relief.

Many thanks to Global Impact Collective and 9Zero for organizing this event and continuously working to address climate change. We were so inspired by the talks we had with attendees who shared interests in food justice and reducing food waste.
